Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Collins, 69, of Denison, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2022. Beth was born on October 26, 1952, to Marlan and Marie Ball in Denison, Texas.
Barbara Jean Garrett joined her heavenly father on July 5, 2022. She was born to Willie Lester Blaylock and Velta Blaylock in Calvin, Oklahoma, on February 4, 1942. She was raised and attended schools in Calvin until she moved in her late teens.
Billy Don Watson, age 80, faced death multiple times and survived. He was kicked in the stomach by a horse, and later fathered four children. He was struck by two motorcycles while mowing, and lived long enough to usher in a third generation. He faced crippling pain every day for 16 years, but still managed to plant a garden, go shooting, and visit his family on a regular basis.
Mary Thompson Tillman Obituary Mary was born October 10, 1947 to Walter and Adele Thompson in St. Louis, Missouri. She left this world on June 30, 2022 at her home in Pottsboro Texas. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Stephen Tillman III of Pottsboro; sons John Stephen Tillman IV & wife Carmela of Pottsboro and Adam Thompson Tillman & wife Keena of Pottsboro; granddaughters Haley Tillman of Sherman, TX and Olivia Tillman of Belton, TX and one brother, Bill Thompson of St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Adele and one brother, John Thompson. Mary loved horses and spent her childhood riding. She excelled in Equestrian competitions for many years!! She even trained for the Olympic Equestrian Team. This love for horses continued throughout her life. Some of her happiest times were riding her favorite horses on trails with her friends. Mary graduated from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and enjoyed telling us Texans that Stephen F. Austin went there also! In May, 1968 she met and married John Stephen Tillman III of New York City. Over the years they became the proud parents of John and Adam. After moving around pursuing their dreams, they finally landed in Plano, Texas. Mary was employed by Plano ISD for a number of years. After they moved to Princeton, Texas, she was employed by Princeton ISD teaching American History at Clark Middle School until her retirement! She was a true lover of children, history and animals. She enjoyed her students, traveled with them on many history trips and was such a wonderful role model for so many!! After retirement they moved to the country outside of Pottsboro. She continued with her horse hobby and volunteering at the Pottsboro Library. Her love of learning never faltered. She was an avid reader and historian. She will be missed by so many former students, teaching companions and friends. Graveside Services will be held on July 14, 2022 at 10: am at Georgetown Cemetery, 617 Cemetery Rd, Pottsboro, Texas. Officiating will be Chad Lee, a former student. Julia Faye DeLisse age 75, of Bonham, Texas passed away on July 1, 2022 in Denison, Texas. Julia was born on July 6, 1946 in Kingston, Oklahoma to Thomas and Almita Lucille (Pershica) Ned.
Margie Delene Thomas Wester, 86, of Dorchester, Texas, went to be home with her Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Dannel Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Rev. Kenneth Dacus of Victory Baptist Church in Sherman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. The family will greet friends on Friday, July 8, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Dannel Funeral Home.
Maria Elena Allen, 84 of Luella, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at her home. Maria was born on September 3, 1937, in Jomulquillo, Mexico to Ponciano and Guadalupe Perez-Acevedo.
Roy Leon Cobbs was born on November 30, 1936, in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Harvey and Edna Perline (Green) Cobbs. Leon passed away on May 22, 2022, in Sherman, Texas at the age of 85. Leon graduated from Noble Public Schools and later married Joetta McDonald on November 3, 1958, and they began their journey together. Leon was a truck driver by trade and a cattleman and a member of the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association. He proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force until his Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, 4 wheeling, and gardening.
