PEP sessions prepare students for successful futures

For thousands of Denison ISD students, successful futures in college, careers and the workplace don’t just happen. They’re carefully planned and orchestrated down to the last detail in a wide variety of programs that provide vital information and guidance for parents and students throughout their school careers. One of them is a program called PEP (short for Pre-Enrollment Planning) that has proved key to helping kids find success in high school, college and beyond.

‘We do a lot here’

Organization prepares for upcoming fundraiser Salvation Army of Grayson County served over 15,000 individuals in Grayson County with services such as pantry assistance, shelter for the homeless, addiction, employment service, rent and utilities assistance as well as assistance for veterans in 2021. A report about the service to the community the nonprofit made in 2021 was given to the Grayson County commissioners Tuesday.

What is truly necessary

Standing in line at Walmart with my hands full of a mix of groceries and paper goods, I chastised myself for not getting a cart. Thirty minutes earlier, I passed the carts in a rush as I entered the store, telling myself that I would be less tempted to veer from my short list without a cart. As I stood in line, I realized that my Jenga and Twister skills mastered as a child were no match for avoiding my temptations as an adult: I was overloaded with “necessities.”
