Fewer Hispanics, Asians came in contact with SPD in 2021

According to its recently released annual racial profiling report, the Sherman Police Department found that a lower percentage of Hispanics and Asians came into contact with police than was expected for the population in 2021. The annual racial profiling report outlines police interaction with motorists in order to unveil any racial profiling taking place in the department.

CASA makes push for those willing to assist children

Each year, CASA of Grayson County volunteers help more than 200 children who are involved in the foster care system through no fault of their own. Those volunteers spend 3,600 hours a year serving the kids in the community but doesn’t even include the 500 hours of training and education that those volunteers go through each year to make sure they are up to the task of being a child’s voice in court.

Books I can’t wait to read in summer

Summer is on its way and while that fills me with a tiny bit of fear because the heat can get intense, the idea of having new books to read thrills me beyond measure.
