Texas educator group proposes referring to slavery as “involuntary relocation” in second grade curriculum

A group of Texas educators have proposed to the Texas State Board of Education that slavery should be taught as “involuntary relocation” during second grade social studies instruction. The group of nine educators, including a professor at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, is one of many such groups advising the state education board to make curriculum change requests.

Jail expansion continues: Meeting brings info, opposition

As Grayson County continues plans that are more than two years in motion to expand the county jail, several downtown business owners and others recently began making their opinions in opposition of the project known. After first speaking up at the Tuesday meeting of the county commissioners, that same group met with Grayson County Sheriff Tom Watt on Wednesday to get more information about the project.
