US 82 at US 75 to get special TxDOT attention; other road reports

US 75, Grayson County: at the US 82 intersection. Watch for shoulder closures on the northbound and southbound US 75 main lanes between South Loy Lake Road and Lamberth Street as crews work on building new exit and entrance ramps. Watch for shoulder closures and lanes shifts on the eastbound and westbound US 82 main lanes between FM 131 and Loy Lake Road while crews work on building new exit and entrance ramps. Arson, ag assault, tampering leads to decade long sentence

A Sherman man was recently sentenced to a decade in prison after accepting a plea agreement with the Grayson County District Attorney’s Office. Justin Batchelor, 21, of Sherman, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for arson, 10 years in prison for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 10 years in prison for tampering with evidence last week.

School districts security efforts amid new TEA initiatives

Last week during a special Texas Senate committee hearing, Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath said the agency plans to review and test external entry points at every school in Texas. Representatives for Sherman and Denison Independent School Districts said the districts already have practices in place to ensure that schools are secured and doors are working properly.
