SPD makes stabbing arrest
A domestic dispute turned into a trip to jail for an area resident Tuesday afternoon. In a news release issued Wednesday, the Sherman Police Department detailed an incident that took place around 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of South Heritage Parkway.

Change coming to US 75 in Van Alstyne next week
Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the next segment of US 75 frontage roads in Van Alstyne will be converted to one-way traffic on June 11. This one-way conversion will happen on both the east and west sides of US 75 from FM 121 to Farmington/Blythe Road.

3 approvals commissioners gave June 3
The Grayson County commissioners meet each Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Grayson County Courthouse to discuss county roads, programs and more. This week, the commissioners approved several items from their agenda.
Felon sentenced to federal prison for firearms violation
An Orange, Texas man has been sentenced for illegally possessing a firearm in the Eastern District of Texas.



Protest planned for this weekend
The Grayson County Courthouse will be the site of a protest this weekend. To be held on Flag Day, the protest is titled, "No Kings" and is meant to be a day of action in protest of "increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption of the Trump administration," a news release about the event said.

Sherman Animal Shelter approved for upgrades, security improvements
The Sherman Animal Shelter could soon receive much-needed upgrades to its facilities. In a unanimous vote Monday, the city council voted to approve a $53,578 contract with Onyx Construction Group of Van Alstyne for improvements to the shelter aimed at improving security and sanitation.

Tax Office back open
After a two-week closure to install and take training on new software, the Grayson County Tax Office is scheduled to be back open. During the time period between May 20 and June 3, the Grayson County Tax Office was not accepting payments.
