Sherman Independent School District is seeing the impact of recent growth and development in the community. The SISD School Board recently approved tax appraisal rolls and a new tax rate that reflect a 39.87 percent increase in the district's taxable values.
Women Rock, a local nonprofit, will honor National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its 14th annual Bras for a Cause fundraiser on Oct. 12. This year the event will be held at the Loy Lake Arena, 457 RC Vaughan Rd., in Denison. The theme is Boots and Bras: Giving Cancer the Boot. The entertainment will once again be provided by Southern Cross. "There still are some tickets available,” said Women Rock founder LuAnn Daniel.
The only United State President to be born in Denison will be celebrated with a 134rd birthday celebration in October. Dwight D. Eisenhower's birthday celebration will be held Oct. 12 in Denison.
A grand jury in Fannin County reviewed evidence in 28 cases in September and returned 27 indictments.
Texoma could see a return of more fall like weather over the weekend and into next week. Meteorologists with the National Weather Service are predicting daytime high temperatures in the mid 80s going into next week.
A Grayson County grand jury returned indictments against more than 50 people this week on charges that ranged from drug possession to aggravated assault. The indictments are formal charges and are not considered evidence of guilt. The list of indictments comes from the Grayson County District Attorney's Office.
