Marcel the Shell with Shoes on is a quietly moving piece of stop-motion wizardry

In Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, a version of the film’s director, Dean Fleischer-Camp (played by himself), stumbles onto a pair of sentient shells, Marcel (Jenny Slate) and his grandmother Nanna Connie (Isabella Rossellini) while staying in an Airbnb. These two little shells used to be part of a large collection of shells that called this place home. Unfortunately, when the old owners of the domicile separated, Marcel and Connie were left behind. Now surviving on their own, Fleisher-Camp gets to discover what a unique day-to-day life the duo lead. Family drama intensifies with dogs’ disappearance

Dear Abby: My husband and I have inherited four dogs from relatives. I was out of state for a month (my husband was home) when two of them were dognapped, driven 42 miles away and abandoned in the wilderness.
