Hurricane Katrina 20 years later: Area resident remembers road to Sherman
A week ago, Essie Simon Hennie took to Facebook to tell her story and experience in the 2005 tragedy that left 1.5 million people displaced and took the lives of nearly 1,400 people. Hennie's family was just one of those displaced families that made its way to North Texas following Hurricane Katrina's landfall.

Grayson College names Dr. Brooke Jones as Director of Nursing
Grayson College is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Brooke Jones, DNP, MSN, RN, as the new Director of Nursing. In this role, Dr. Jones will oversee the College’s Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Vocational Nursing (VN) and RN to BSN programs.

DISD announces stadium seating change for performers
Ahead of Denison High School's first home game this week, the Denison Independent School District has announced a stadium change that will put some Yellowjacket fans closer to each other this season. The Touch of Gold Marching Band, Stingerettes and Party Pit will be on the home side of the stadium this year.

Grayson College passes 2025-26 budget, tax rate
This week, the Grayson County Board of Trustees approved the college's fiscal year 2025-26 budget and new property tax rate.
