The Van Alstyne Public Library has released its schedule for October activities. The library is located at 151 W.

Tuesday afternoon, the Denison Police Department released information about an arrest made this week as well as informed the public of who to contact if they may have been a victim of a theft at the hands of the alleged suspect. "The Denison Police Department started investigating Victor Paul Smith (age 42) after receiving complaint(s) that, over the past several years, he had been taking money from residents in Grayson County after meeting the victim(s) in his capacity of officiating youth sports," a news release said.

Magic Smoke in Sherman will be hosting a 5 year anniversary celebration this month. The event to be held on Oct. 13 will celebrate five years since the barbecue restaurant opened its doors at 2600 N. Travis Street in Sherman.

The 32nd annual senior fishing festival at Waterloo Lake will take place this weekend. Entry is $5 for seniors and the fishing begins at 7:30 a.m. at Waterloo Park in Denison.

The Texas Department of Transportation is continuing work on an area of US Highway 75 that will one day include what the department has named the "ultimate ramp connection." The US 75 northbound exit to State Highway 91 in Sherman is currently closed to help facilitate the next part of this construction project. This project as well as others were detailed in the plan for road construction by the highway issued Friday.

Following heavy storms last week, Texoma can expect calm but warm conditions to continue through the weekend and into early next week. The National Weather Service is forecasting stable weather with little chance for rain of cold fronts in the foreseeable future.
