Wish List 2024 Women Rock

The mission of Women Rock is saving and changing lives by increasing awareness and the early detection of breast cancer and providing hope and support to those we serve. Women Rock is the local breast cancer awareness organization serving people in need in this community. While many are out hustling and bustling to purchase gifts for everyone on their list, many others are not able to think that far ahead. Some are getting ports put in and starting chemotherapy amidst Holiday activities. Others are hoping to get through treatment in time to feel well enough to enjoy them. Some are struggling with the diagnosis they have been given, and some just want to make memories in case they’re not here next Christmas. Many others are juggling bills while still trying to buy a gift or two. Happy holidays are not all that happy for so many. Please consider donating this holiday season and help them help some of this community’s own. Thanks for your kind consideration of the following wish list: Gift cards for gas and groceries Hobby Lobby/Joann’s gift cards for therapy projects Inspirational books Adult coloring books Colored pencils/gel pens/markers Worry stones Lap quilts/throws Planners/journals Lotion Lip balm Salon/Spa gift certificates Restaurant gift cards Movie tickets Keurig Coffee pods Office Supplies 3 phone system Water cooler Donations to support their mission They appreciate all considerations for giving. United Way wish list

Organizational history: Our United Way was originally formed as the Sherman Community Chest in 1942, amid growing encouragement from the government for folks to support the national War Chest. For those first few years, donations went to the War Chest and local youth organizations. By 1951, the Denison Community Chest and several other local Chests had been formed and were operating to support their cities’ organizations. In 1969, the Community Chests came together deciding that collectively they could support the community better together thus transiting to the United Fund of Grayson County. We made our last name change in 1974 by joining the United Way worldwide family and becoming the United Way of Grayson County. Despite the name changes, our mission has always stayed the same, To improve lives mobilize the caring power of our community to advance the common good. Program History: -Tiny Toes: Tiny Toes began operations in January 2022 out of the growing concern that children birth to five are the fastest growing demographic in poverty in Grayson County. This two generation home visiting based program works to stabilize families and then offer ongoing parenting, developmental, and educational support for the entire family.
