Carole Ann Srodes

Carole Ann Srodes, 79, of Sherman, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Carole was born in Fremont, Ohio, on July 11, 1942, the daughter of Roy and Martha (Haubert) Kirsch. She grew up in Gibsonburg, Ohio, graduated from Gibsonburg High School and Mary Manse College in Toledo, Ohio. She taught elementary school in the Parma, Ohio school district.

She married John “Jack” Srodes on July 4, 1966, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gibsonburg, Ohio. They moved to Sherman, Texas in 1976, and became parishioners at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Soon after, Carole began working at St. Mary’s Catholic school as secretary and held that position for 25 years.

Upon retirement, she enjoyed spending most of her time with her family, especially her precious granddaughters. She also enjoyed spending time with the ladies of her Bunco group. Grammy, as she was known, took great pride in baking cookies and other delicious delights, being the first one in the school pickup line, and providing doggy daycare for her granddog, Sweetpea. She had a servant’s heart and always went above and beyond to make sure family and friends were taken care of and provided for.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Martha Kirsch, and daughter, Lisa Ann Srodes.

Carole is survived by her husband, John, of Sherman, son, Derek Srodes, of Plano, daughter, Holly Vogel and husband David, of Sherman, grandchildren, Abby and Emily Blanton, and Garrett Vogel, of Sherman, sister, Donna Kirsch of Washington, DC, and brother-in-law, Jerry Srodes of Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The rosary will be recited at 6 pm, Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel, by Deacon Gary Vogel. A family visitation time will follow from 6:30 pm until 8 pm. Funeral Mass for Carole will be held 2 pm Friday,

Funeral Mass for Carole will be held 2 pm Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Sherman, with Father Martin Castaneda officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sherman.

Pallbearers will be David Vogel, Brad Vogel, Garrett Vogel, Derek Srodes and Jim Blanton.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School, 713 S Travis St, Sherman, TX 75090.
