Fannin County has returned an indictment against a former Fannin County Sheriff’s Office employee who has been accused of stealing inmate commissary. In the news release issued Tuesday, the Fannin County District Attorney’s Office said Krystal Kay Wilson has been indicted in a sealed indictment for theft over $150K but less than $300K by a public servant.
The indictment of the 31-year-old from Bonham was returned as true on June 26.
“The charges stem from a Texas Ranger investigation initiated by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office in May upon discovering that cash funds deposited into kiosks intended for inmate commissary accounts was missing,” the news release said. “The investigation revealed that more than approximately $230,000 of cash deposits were missing between 2021 and 2025 while under the sole control of administrative assistant Krystal Wilson. In her subsequent interview with law enforcement, Wilson made admissions to embezzling money for her personal use and was terminated from her position with the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.”
Indictments are formal charges and are not an indication of guilt. They “should not be considered as evidence of guilt and that all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” the release said.
Wilson was arrested on June 30 and booked into the Collin County Jail with a bond set at $500,000.
