Bill Watson

Billy Don Watson, age 80, faced death multiple times and survived. He was kicked in the stomach by a horse, and later fathered four children. He was struck by two motorcycles while mowing, and lived long enough to usher in a third generation. He faced crippling pain every day for 16 years, but still managed to plant a garden, go shooting, and visit his family on a regular basis.

Born in Sherman, Bill Watson lived his entire life in this area. Many people knew him by face or by name. He frequented the American Legion, pawn shops, fishing holes, Mexican restaurants, wrestling matches and car races. He was a staunch supporter of gun ownership, law enforcement and was a proud Air Force veteran. As a carpenter, he built many of the beautiful homes in the Herman Baker Lake area, and as a security guard, he diligently protected property at KwikSet and other local businesses.

Bill Watson passed away on July 1, 2022 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. During his final days, he was surrounded by family, friends and an ex-wife.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Homer & Violet Fowler of Sadler, and his son Johnny Watson who died as a toddler. He is survived by his sister Mary Lindamood of Sadler. His daughters: Misty LaBoon with her husband Art of Sherman, Tina Watson of Howe, and Kimberly Jewell of Sherman. His grandchildren: Stephen Goldston of Howe, Tiffany Tavera of Sherman, Tabatha Hyatt of Durant, Taylor Touchstone of Sherman, and Trevon Firquain of Cherry Mound. He’s also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. Anyone who met Bill Watson knew how much he loved his family. Those in his extended family are too many to name but include Evelyn Newell, Teana Nevin, Bryce Akins, Chester Holt, Charlie Jewell and Rachael Budjenska.

Per his request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. He will be cremated and placed with his son Johnny at some point in the future. When you remember Bill Watson, he asked that we remember his funny stories, crazy antics, and know that he’s finally at peace without pain. God blessed a long life filled with family and friends.
