Betty Talmadge Adams Hager Morriss

Betty was born November 24, 1944 to parents Morgan Talmadge Adams and Nellie Ruth Roper Adams on the family farm between Anna and Westminster, Texas. She passed away peacefully in McKinney, Texas on September 21, 2022. Betty was a 6th generation Texan. The Hendricks and Ropers’ moved from South Carolina and settled in the Anna – Westminster area prior to 1850. Betty attended Anna Independent Schools and Texas A & M University-Commerce. Her entire 35 year career was spent at Texas Instruments.

After Betty and Jim’s retirement in 2000, they spent time traveling, visiting with grandkids and family and enjoying time at their farm in Anna where they relaxed, gardened, grew irises and took care of their Hereford cattle. Betty was active in the Anna Area Historical Preservation Society, Van Alstyne Historical Society, Collin County Historical Coalition Group, Texoma Iris Society, and Anna ISD Mentoring Program

Betty is survived by her husband, James Howard Morriss; daughter, Lisa Morriss Caldwell (Jim), grandchildren, Whit Thompson, Carly Thompson,
Meryl Thompson, Lauren Caldwell, Trey (Katy) Caldwell, and great-grandchildren, Caden Caldwell, Quade Caldwell and Rowe Caldwell. She is also survived by son, Brent Howard Morriss (Kelly), grandson Avery Morriss; son, Boyd Lee Hager (Mary), grandson Michael Hager; brother, Charlie Adams (Jane); sistersin-law, Wyvette Adams Estes and Marthe Adams; nieces, Glenda Bridges, Linda Jo Holman, Karen Adams, Olivia Adams, Leslie Adams; nephews, CA Adams, Sammy Adams, Wesley Adams, Andy Adams.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan Talmadge Adams and Nellie Ruth Roper Adams; brothers, Sam Adams, Bob Adams and wife Dessa, John Adams, nephew: Larry Adams.
