1928-2023
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our mother, Betty Key Work of Colbert, OK. She was born Betty Louise Key, daughter of Martin and Lennie Key, on October 15, 1928. She married Naith Work July 10, 1946, in Denison, TX. Married 55 years, he preceded her in death in 2001. Betty was a faithful and revered employee of 32 years with Pillsbury in Denison. She is survived by her son, Michael R. (Bud) Work and wife Cheryl of Georgetown and daughter Nancy Hodges of North Richland Hills. Grandchildren Brian Hodges and wife Lindsay of Grapevine, Casey Hodges and wife Chevi of Colleyville, Trisha Gerdes and husband Peter of Georgetown.
Grandson Michael A. Work preceded her in death. Great-grandchildren are Avery, Emerson, Whitley, and Turner Hodges of the DFW area; Josie and Luke Gerdes of Georgetown; and Garrett and Dylan Work of Sherman and McKinney. Great-great-grandchild Cash Work of Sherman. Numerous cousins who remain close to her. Betty is also preceded in death by her brother James Larry Key of Colbert and three sisters Jackie, Virgia and Wanda leaving several beloved nieces and nephews in Texas, California, and Montana.
Services for Betty were held at the First Baptist Church of Colbert on Saturday, April 8. Brian Hodges, Casey Hodges, Jimmy Key, Jackie Malone, Garrett Work and Owen Mott served as pallbearers. Interment were at the Colbert Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert, Oklahoma.
