Barbara Jean Garrett joined her heavenly father on July 5, 2022. She was born to Willie Lester Blaylock and Velta Blaylock in Calvin, Oklahoma, on February 4, 1942. She was raised and attended schools in Calvin until she moved in her late teens.

Barbara married Tom McCarty in May of 1961 and had two children. They had started life in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where she would find the love of her life Richard Garrett, and they had three more children. In 1974 they picked the family up and moved to Madill, Oklahoma. In 1979 they moved to Whitewright, Texas. Barbara was a nurse’s aide at the Whitewright Nursing Home for many years. However, her one true passion in life was her family and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Clyde and Willie Blaylock, and two sisters, Loraine Powell and Willa Mae Ballard.

Barbara is survived by one brother, Doyle Blaylock; five children, Dennis and Beth Blaylock, Sheila and Tim Travis, Ricky and Theresa Garrett, Richard Garrett Jr., and Angela Johnston; 13 grandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren.
