Doris Ann Finke Kennon, 85, of Pottsboro passed away peacefully on September 20, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sisterin-law, cousin, aunt and beloved member of the community.
Betty was born November 24, 1944 to parents Morgan Talmadge Adams and Nellie Ruth Roper Adams on the family farm between Anna and Westminster, Texas. She passed away peacefully in McKinney, Texas on September 21, 2022.
Mary Catherine (Cathy) Sheppard Stewart died in her sleep on September 10. She was age 39 and holding.
Stanford M. Noel, M.D., 87-year-old retired orthopedic surgeon of Los Angeles, California, died September 2, 2022, following a long illness. Dr. Noel was a well-known and respected surgeon who practiced for over 50 years in Los Angeles, California, specializing in the treatment of hip disorders in both children and adults. Visitation was held at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas on Monday, September 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. Private burial was at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Dr. Noel was born December 16, 1934, in Sherman, Texas, the son of Jewel H. and Oscar H. Noel. He attended Rice Institute as an undergraduate and the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, for medical school. He served as a captain in the U. S. Army Medical Corps in Korea functioning as a general surgeon. Following discharge he went to Stockton, California, where he practiced general surgery for two years. He decided orthopedics was his calling, and went to Harbor General Hospital in Los Angeles for one year of orthopedic research with Dr. Marshall Orloff. He was then accepted in a three-year orthopedic residency at Orthopedic Hospital, L.A., followed by a three-year fellowship specializing in hip disorders.
