DENISON — Jacob Hunt made an immediate impact in his first season with the Yellow Jackets, coming up with big plays and providing depth that allowed Denison to scheme opponents in different ways.

Hunt stepped right in at middle linebacker after transferring from Wylie and helped an improved unit by finishing with 79 tackles, 15 for a loss, three sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, and three forced fumbles to go with two fumble recoveries.

Those numbers led to the junior being named the Herald Democrat All Texomaland Class 3A-4A Defensive Player of the Year for 2013.

Denison ended with a share of the District 13-4A title and Hunt was named the district’s Defensive Player of the Year.
