Arthur M. Payne was born in Denison, Texas on April 3, 1947, to Lee and Ann Payne, and died at Texoma Medical Center on June 23, 2022, from complications of lymphoma.
A 1965 graduate of Denison High School, Art went to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas. He left to enter the United States Army in 1970, and upon his completion of service in 1972, he returned to Texas Instruments in Sherman. It was at Texas Instruments that Art met Martha Sprowl, and they married in November, 1973. He completed his associates degree from Grayson College, continued his education at night, and completed his bachelor’s degree from East Texas State University. Art enjoyed painting,
Art enjoyed painting, reading, fishing, and country/western dance. He and Martha taught dance classes at Grayson College, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and various clubs for several years.
Left behind is Art’s wife, Dr. Martha Payne; brother Mike and Juli; sister Linda Robertson; sister Lisa Powers and Jerry; sister Dana Cassell and Cecil; sister Ellen Payne; brother Mark and Vannessa; brother Gary and Shannon. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
