CHARLENE JAMES ARNDT

1930-2023

Charlene James Arndt passed from this life on April 27, 2023, with her loving son by her side. Charlene was born on January 19, 1930, to Josephine Kerr and Charles Jackson James.

On July 9, 1950, Charlene married the love of her life, Robert Charles Arndt and they were happily married until his passing on April 27, 1980. Ironically, or perhaps not ironically, Charlene and Robert both passed on April 27th, 43 years apart.

On September 23, 1956, Charlene and Robert were blessed with the birth of their only child, Randy Arndt. They lived in Sherman until 1976 (?) when Robert was transferred to Austin, Texas with his job at IBM. After Robert passed, Charlene moved back to Sherman to be near her family where she lived until God called her home.

Besides her loving husband, the three loves of Charlene’s life were her son, Randy Arndt, granddaughter, Mandy Arndt Riley and grandson Clint Arndt. Charlene was completely devoted to her son and grandchildren, and they were equally devoted to her.

Charlene was a member of the Church of Christ where her husband served as a deacon, and she often taught Sunday School to the children in the congregation. She began her Sarah Coventry Fine Jewelry Consultant career in the late 1970’s. She passionately climbed the ladder of success with Sarah Coventry until she retired in 1995. Those that were blessed to know Charlene knew her as a good and kind woman with a giving heart. She was fondly called Nana by her grandchildren and a multitude of their friends.

Charlene is survived by her son, Randy Arndt and wife Marsha Arndt of Denison, three grandchildren and their spouses, Mandy Arndt Riley and husband Shawn Riley of Sherman, Clint Arndt and wife Brigette Arndt of Sherman and Ricky Uhle and wife Haley Uhle of Lewisville, three great grandchildren, Cash Riley and Chloe Riley, both of Sherman and Joe Uhle of Lewisville, cousins Robert Oglesby and wife Willora of Richardson, Texas and Richard Oglesby and wife Irene of Sherman, Texas. Charlene is also survived by many extended family members and friends who loved her very much.

“To everything there is a season…” (Eccl 3:1) Graveside services will be held at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman on Wednesday, May 3rd at 10:00 a.m followed by a celebration luncheon at Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman.
