James was born in Oakland California on July 6, 1942. He is preceded in death by his father Stokley Goodson Seals from Savoy Tx and mother Louise ( Magers) Seals from Whitewright Tx. He spent most of his childhood growing up in the Whitewright and Bonham area with his dear sister Gail (Hutson) Wylie who really looked up to him. He loved her and both her children so much and looked forward to family time with them. He also enjoyed boating and fishing in the gulf with his dad.

James returned home to family and friends in Bonham then met his future wife Gail Anderson of Ravenna Tx. They married in August 1965 and raised their two children in Sherman Tx. The Anderson and Alexander families from Ravenna and Oklahoma were always so good to him and he shared great memories with them as well.
He also enjoyed spending time on the Seals family farm that he inherited. He liked raising a vegetable garden and harvesting pecans. He was so proud to know that his son Kevin, also a Navy veteran, will continue on the Seals name and the family farm.
James worked for Johnson & Johnson in Sherman from 1966-2003 when the plant closed. He then was able to retire and enjoy his hobbies of boating, camping, fishing, league bowling and working on old cars and trucks. He was a fan of NASCAR racing and tractor pulls and did some drag racing in his younger years. James knew he was very blessed with a family who loved him very much and his most meaningful times were spent with his four beautiful granddaughters who gave him the greatest joy.
