William Lewis Belknap

1942-2022

William Lewis Belknap entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Sherman, Texas.

Lewis was born on August 09, 1942, at home in Sherman, Texas, to Lloyd and Helen Belknap.

Lewis attended Sherman ISD and graduated in 1960. He married Billie Jo Holloway on June 01, 1961, in Sherman, Texas. Lewis loved to fly fish and enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time with his family, and working for the church. Lewis’s career with Johnson and Johnson began in 1962 and remained there until the factory closed in 2003. He started as a sweeper and worked his way through the company, and at the time he left, he was an engineering mechanic. After leaving J&J, he started driving a school bus for Howe ISD and the Grayson County CO-OP. He drove for many years until March of 2022, when he was diagnosed with cancer. Lewis served as an elder for the Center St. Church of Christ for decades and was passionate about doing the Lord’s work.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Helen Belknap, and one daughter Susan Holt. Lewis is survived by his wife, Billie Belknap of Sherman, Tx, his daughter Kimberly Palmer (husband Greg Palmer) of Royse City, Texas, sister Julia Keel (husband Vade Keel) of Sherman, Texas: granddaughters Meghan Davis (husband Brandon Davis) of Ballinger, Texas, Emily Holt, Hannah Holt, Bethanie Holt all of Sherman, Texas, Kaley Palmer, Anna Palmer, and Cara Palmer all of Royse City, Texas and grandson Chase Palmer (wife Elizabeth Palmer) of Harlingen, Texas, and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive guests on Thursday evening, December 29, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Center St. Church of Christ in Sherman, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 30, 2022, at Center St. Church of Christ. James Luedecke will be officiating. Burial will be at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.
