Paul “Mike” Michael Theobald

Mike Theobald

Paul Michael Theobald, 78, of Gainesville, Tx, passed away on August 13, 2022.

Mike was born on August 17, 1943 to Emmet and Ruby Theobald in Sherman, Tx.  He graduated high school in Gainesville, Tx.

While out on a delivery for work one day, he met the love of his life, Leta faye Beeler.  They went on to marry in October 1961 and had 3 children, Dwayne, Gayla and Tonya.

Mike worked at Tom Thumb for several years before his employment at Texas Power & Light.  He started as a meter reader and worked his way up to senior accountant, retiring after 33 years.  He spent 3 years in retirement, then decided to work at Wal-Mart to be closer to his bride.  He spent another 10 years there.

Mike was, first and foremost, a devoted husband to his wife, Leta.   He loved her fiercely and everything he did was to make her happy.  He was also an amazing daddy to his children.  There was never a time any of them questioned his love, support, or pride in them.

In his younger years, Mike spent many hours tooling leather, which he passed on to his son, Dwayne.  When he was not working, he spent many hours doing carpentry work.  He could build anything.  He also loved to work on his yard, mowing and keeping it nice for his bride. He was an avid history buff and could tell you anything you wanted to know about World War II.  He loved a good rainstorm and sitting on his front porch swing watching the sky.  His absolute, hands down, favorite food (meal) was fried chicken.  He loved fishing and hunting, spending much time with his son and his brother, Jerry, doing so.

It’s hard to sum up the life of a man in just a few words.  Anyone that knew Mike admired and respected him.  He was strong, hardworking, rough around the edges, tough as nails, brutally honest and humble.   He truly would do anything for anyone if he saw a need.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Ruby Theobald, brother, Jerry Theobald, and grandson, Michael Dwayne Theobald, Jr.

He leaves behind his beautiful wife, Leta Theobald, his children, son Michael Dwayne Theobald, Sr. and wife Angela, daughter Gayla Fewell and husband Tim, and daughter Tonya Theobald. Grandchildren, Derek Fewell, Garrett Fewell, Ashley Bravo De Rueda, Nathanael Theobald Sr, Rebekah Theobald, Sarah Theobald, Hanna Theobald, Samuel Theobald, Joshua Theobald, Josiah Theobald, Rachel Theobald, and Paul Michael Theobald.  Also 16 great grandchildren and counting.

His was a life well lived.
