Billy Wayne Moore

Billy Wayne Moore, 90, died unexpectedly in his home Sunday, April 24th, 2022. Bill was born March 2, 1932 to Tom David Moore and Lillie Mae Lazenby Moore at the Whitting Place. He spent his growing up years picking cotton, working in the hay field and milking cows, part of a hard working farm family. Bill was baptized in the 1940’s with his Daddy and brother Charlie at the Bells School after the Methodist Church burned down in Bells. He attended Bells Schools where he was named Best All Around Boy his Senior Year, 1950. He carried that title throughout his entire life. After graduation he was drafted into the US Army stationed at March Air Reserve Base Air Force in Riverside, CA.

Upon his return from the Army Bill returned to his hometown area where he would meet the woman he would marry at a cafe’ in Whitesboro, TX. Bill and Mott were married on January 16, 1960 at the Methodist Church in Bells, TX. They made their homestead on Shaffer Road in a home he lived in as a teenager. There they raised 4 kids and continued the farm lifestyle.

Bill worked for Pillsbury for 36 years from 1958 to 1994 when he retired to be a full-time farmer.

Our Daddy was a very quiet, kind and loving man. He was a man of few words but had a heart full of love for his family and friends. For us growing up he was the comforter in our home while he left the discipline to momma. He always spoke kind words along with a pat on the back and was always so happy to see his family and friends. In March he was honored with a surprise 90th birthday party attended by his family and friends. He was overcome with joy and happiness to see all his nieces and nephews as well as some of his cousins. It was a day that Daddy would refer to as a really great day, he was so happy and blessed to see everyone.

He is survived by his brother, Charles Moore and wife Dorothy (Dot), children: Cindy Berend(David), Debbie Scoggins(Kenny), Patty Daniel(Duane) and Michael Moore(Shari). Grandchildren: Joseph (Joe Bob) Berend, Francis (Frannie) Hesse, Haley Cruz, Casey Scoggins, Hannah Becerra, Billy Daniel, Makayla Moore, Scott Lawson and Ray Lawson, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
