February 4th, 1948- April 7th, 2022
Kenneth Donald Washburn, also known as Kenny, Dad, Daddy, Pawpaw and Uncle Kenny, was born on February 4th, 1948 in Bells, TX and passed away leaving this world to arrive at his eternal home in the arms of our God and Saviour. He was born to Wes and Charlcie Washburn. Kenny was the younger of their two children.
Kenny married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Sharon Ann McKee February 23rd, 1968.
Kenny loved baseball, westerns, fishing, hunting, sitting in front of Washburn Hardware drinking coffee, sharing stories and watching thunderstorms in the garage with his kids and grandkids. He had a kind, giving heart and never met a stranger. He was humble, grateful, sincere, generous, adventurous and was quite the jokester.
Kenny loved his family more than anything. He was proud of both of his children, all of his grandchildren and especially his great-granddaughter. He rarely missed a ball game (especially if it was a baseball game) and spent many hours watching his grandkids, nieces, nephews and many kids throughout Texoma who called him “Pawpaw”. Any kids anywhere he went loved him and they became instant lifelong buddies.
Kenny retired from TXU Power Plant (Savoy, TX) in 1999, where he was known as “Mudbone” by his co-workers. He was very dedicated to his job and was one of the most diligent, hard-working men at the plant.
Kenny was strong in his faith and raised his family to put God first. He could always be found at church on Sunday mornings before his declining health.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Wes and Charlcie Washburn.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Sharon Washburn of 54 years, his son Kendall Washburn & wife Jennifer, his daughter Melissa & husband Roger Virgin. Grandchildren: Garrett Virgin & wife Tori, Courtney Boss & husband Tyler, Emily Washburn and his great-granddaughter, Lyla Renae Boss. Kenny is also survived by his brother David Washburn & wife Lee Ann. He has numerous nieces who were so very dear to him, including Kelli Alyousef, her children and grandchildren, April DeBrita, her husband and children, Kimilee Gould, her husband and sons, Tracy Lieberman, and her husband and his sister-in-law Carol Craft.
He leaves behind many friends and a community that will miss him dearly.
A Memorial Service will be officiated by Brother Russell Clemons at Hebron Baptist Church in Bells, TX on Monday, April 11th at 11:00am and directed by Waldo Funeral Home.
