Denison Police searching for more potential victims of scam

Tuesday afternoon, the Denison Police Department released information about an arrest made this week as well as informed the public of who to contact if they may have been a victim of a theft at the hands of the alleged suspect.
“The Denison Police Department started investigating Victor Paul Smith (age 42) after receiving complaint(s) that, over the past several years, he had been taking money from residents in Grayson County after meeting the victim(s) in his capacity of officiating youth sports,” a news release said.
“Victor allegedly would scam residents for money with the promise of paying them back large amounts in the future with no ability and/or intentions of doing so, sometimes hot checks written by Victor were involved.”
As of Tuesday, the suspect had been arrested and was booked into Grayson County Jail on a charge of theft under $300,000 with a $100,000 bond.
