Staff reports
A woman that was allegedly kidnapped in Sherman Wednesday afternoon has since been returned and the suspects of the alleged kidnapping have been arrested, the Sherman Police Department reported Thursday afternoon.
In a news release issued just before 1 p.m. Thursday, the Sherman Police Department detailed the event that took place just after 5 p.m. the day prior.
“On Wednesday 08-13-2025 at 1735 hours, Sherman Dispatch received a 911 phone call from an individual reporting her roommate had been kidnapped from the 900-block of Boone Drive,” the release said. “According to the caller, two males forced the victim into a vehicle at gunpoint and fled the area.”
The woman who was taken was not the intended target, the police learned.
“The suspects returned the victim to Sherman, where she called the police,” the release said. “She was located unharmed. It was determined the suspects took the victim to a residence and held her there as leverage to locate another person. Evidence obtained throughout the investigation supported the victim’s allegation.
As the investigation continued, police identified suspects and worked to locate them.
“The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Eli Clark and 17-year-old Alec Smith,” the release said. “Investigators worked overnight to locate both males. Both males were interviewed and confessed to the kidnapping. Clark and Smith were arrested for Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon and transported to the Grayson County Jail.”
This case is ongoing and the investigation continues.
