Sherman ISD is partnering with Civitan Texoma and the Boys & Girls Club of Sherman to host this year’s Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sherman High School (2901 W. Travis). Attendees should park near the Competition Gym on the west side of the high school.
This annual event brings together local organizations, volunteers and community leaders to support families as they prepare for the new school year.
Students and parents attending the event will have access to a variety of free services and resources, including backpacks filled with school supplies (while supplies last), free haircuts for students and engaging activities for all ages. Nearly 30 local businesses and organizations will be on site with information, giveaways and helpful support.
This year marks the beginning of a new partnership with Civitan Texoma, a recently established local service organization that will be passing out backpacks and school supplies.
“We are extremely excited to be a part of this very important endeavor,” said Founding Texoma Civitan Club President Paula Langston. “It’s the perfect example of the type of volunteer project we want to support.”
“Many families are not able to purchase backpacks or school supplies, and we want every child to be excited about going to school and ready to learn with needed supplies,” Langston added. “These are future leaders and contributors to our community, and we want them to know that we are committed to their future and their success.”
The Boys & Girls Club of Sherman will also provide volunteers and distribute additional school supplies at the event.
Sherman ISD is grateful to all participating organizations for their generous support of Sherman students and families. Their continued investment helps ensure students have a strong start to the school year and a deeper connection to their community.
