Community prayer initiative takes shape

Local churches are gathering for a clarion call in support of the Texoma community. The community prayer event to be held next week is theme, “Open door, open hearts” based on “For my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” from Isaiah 56:7.
“We invite your church to partner with us in a powerful initiative to bring hope, healing, and unity through monthly community prayer gatherings,” a flyer for the event said.

“Each second Saturday of the month, we will gather at a different church to pray for our city, our communities, and those in need. We are seeking 10 churches to open their doors for a dedicated time of prayer and to join us as we come together at other participating churches throughout the year.”

A Zoom call will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday for this citywide prayer movement event. For more information, call Kristy Kyles at 469-715-7471.

“The idea for the community prayer initiative was born out of our team’s passion to serve and uplift the community,” Kyles said about the community event. “We’re always seeking innovative ways to make a positive impact, and prayer is a powerful catalyst for hope and unity.

“The concept was actually sparked by my assistant, Sheri Coleman Scales, who suggested we organize a community-wide prayer initiative. I immediately ran with the idea, and we sought permission from our Pastor, Rosa Niblet.”

With permission from Niblet, the host church for the initial event is Greater Harvest North in Sherman.

“From there, the initiative began to take shape, and we’re excited to see how it will bring our community together in prayer and unity,” Kyles said.

“We’re grateful for our committed houses of worship, who share our vision for a united and prayerful community:

Greater Harvest North Church, Bishop Charles Niblet

Progressive Baptist Church, Pastor Craig Davis

Great Commission Baptist, Pastor Corey Battles

Harmony Baptist Church, Pastor Clifton Easton

Friendly Church of Sherman, Apostle Robert Softly

Temple of Hope Faith and Grace Apostle Samuel Castle.”

They would like to have at least six more churches partner with the initiative.

“If you’re a pastor or church leader interested in learning more about this opportunity, we’d love to hear from you!” Kyles said. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.”

The plan is for each church to host a specific month. That church’s prayer team will lead the gathering and guide the community prayers. Then, the partner churches will commit to attending and supporting prayer gathering at the host churches.

Together, we will be a beacon of hope and light, strengthening our city through united intercession,” the flyer said.
The event is also meant to help usher in more unity and togetherness among churches and the wider Texoma community.

“In a time when many are searching for peace, direction, and healing, we believe that the Church is called to stand in the gap and be a light in our communities,” the flyer said. “This is an opportunity to unite in faith, break down barriers, and seek God’s presence together.

“If your church would like to join us in this movement of prayer and community transformation, please let us know. We would love to partner with you in making a lasting impact!”
