3 events for Halloween feens

The area is getting ready for several celebrations of spooks and frights. With Halloween, just one week away three of the biggest Halloween events will be taking place in the county will be taking place in the next seven days.

Here are three family friendly events to get people in the fall spirit.

1. Monsters on Main

Downtown Denison’s annual Monsters on Main event for children and families will be held on Halloween.

The event takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. on Main Street.

“Our annual Monsters on Main Trick or Treating event returns! Join us in Downtown Denison for businesses and government departments passing out candy with a costume contest at Heritage Park for all ages!” information about the event said. “Judges will begin judging at 7 p.m.”

2. Trick or Treat on Travis

The 10th annual Trick or Treat on Travis is undergoing a big change this year. The event known to take place on Travis and Wall Streets will be expanding to include blocks of Travis, Crockett and Houston Streets. The event will be taking place around the Grayson County Courthouse square.

The event will take place from 6-8 p.m. Monday and will take place outside with booths of local groups and businesses playing games and giving out candy.

The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public. The event is sponsored by Sherman Main Street and Sherman Parks and Recreation.

3. Fright Fest 2024

The Sherman Police Department is gearing up for Fright Fest 2024.

This year’s edition of the event will be held on Oct. 31 at 2907 W. Travis Street, Sherman High School Parking lot and will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. The event is free to the public.

“We have received a great response from vendors for our Fright Fest Halloween event next month,” said a news release about the upcoming event.

This is the 23rd year for the trick-or-treating event hosted by the Sherman Police Department that draws up to 3000 people each year.

The event consists of many vendors including local businesses, churches, and organizations setting up booths to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters.

The Cindy Carr Spooky Booth Award will be given to the vendor with the best display.
