As growth continues to come to Sherman, the city is developing a roadmap to pursue projects and improvements in the community. In a unanimous vote last week, the city council approved a new capital improvements program that lists the proposed major improvements and projects that the city plans to pursue over the next five years.

This week, Grayson County commissioners continued a contract with Cooke County to house Grayson County inmates in the Cooke County Jail while the Grayson County Jail continues to undergo expansion.Grayson County Sheriff Tony Bennie told commissioners the price per inmate per day under the extension of the contract will be $70 which is a $10 increase. Bennie said he thinks is reasonable given the state of today’s economy.“Today, our population (at the jail) is 393," Bennie said.

This week I as on social media and came across a video where a woman was explaining how her parents lied to her in relation to 9/11. She said her whole life, her parents said they were at work when the tragedy happened, and they were unable to pick her up from elementary/middle school that day because they had to stay at work.

Each month, Van Alstyne City Manager Lane Jones releases a report to the public about the work the city is doing, improvements made and planned as well as the state of the city. In the September address, Jones had Christmas on the brain.
