Good Morning: A mild summer

As a native of North Texas, and having lived here for more than four decades, I have seen more than my fair share of the Texas heat and summer. From temperatures pushing 110, to summers that seem to go on into mid-October, I sometimes feel like I've seen it all.

Whitesboro Fire/EMS and dispatch, Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department honored for saving infant's life

Tuesday morning, Grayson County commissioners recognized local first responders for lifesaving efforts taken in 2024. Members of the Whitesboro Fire and EMS team, Whitesboro dispatch and Sherwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department were recently awarded the Texas EMS First Responder Award for Critical Save of the Year, and Tuesday commissioners gave the group their applause as well.

Sherman nixes zoning change for proposed apartment complex

In a split vote, the Sherman City Council has denied a zoning change request for a new 336-unit apartment complex amid concerns about oversaturation in the housing market. The council voted 3-2 last week, with Mayor Shawn Teamann casting the tiebreaker vote, to deny a rezoning request for nearly 16.69 acres of land related to an apartment development that initially passed through the planning and zoning commission unanimously nearly a year ago.
