Grayson County residents are invited to watch local 4-H students compete in a contest centered around public speaking and promoting 4-H. The contest will be held Feb.

Sparklight® is serving as a drop-off site for a food drive to assist local college students. The campaign, which is being conducted by the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sherman Chamber of Commerce and Ambassadors United Against Hunger, will benefit Grayson Cares, a Grayson College program that helps students address basic needs.

Austin College officials have announced the Dean’s List for Fall Term 2024. The Dean’s List recognizes the top 20 percent of students taking a minimum of three graded, full-credit courses. For Fall Term 2024, 227 individuals are recognized.

Denison could soon have new rules and guidelines for signage throughout the city. City officials recently unveiled a proposed rewrite of the city ordinance regarding the placement of signs that would add clarity and other updates to Denison's rules and regulations.

This week I spoke to a couple of young women who competed in the Miss Tri County pageant in Sherman last weekend. This is not the first time I have interviewed women who have participated in or are going to participate in a pageant.

Having worked as a journalist for more a decade, there are some types of stories I know are likely to get people commenting one way or another. One of those stories that always gets people talking is about a new restaurant coming to town.
