Denison city leaders are declining a petition for a public improvement district that could bring needed infrastructure to a proposed development along Spur 503. Last week, the city council voted unanimously to deny a PID request related to the Courtyards at Katy Trail development, a 155-home community that would be targeted at residents ages 55 and over.

With just one week until the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Texas Department of Transportation is warning drivers of the penalties of impaired driving. In a news release issued Friday evening, the department warned that it is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to have any detectable amount of alcohol in their system.

State Regent Emeritus and Southeastern Oklahoma State University alumna Ann Holloway will be one of 10 inductees into the 2024 class of the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame, as announced by the Oklahoma Higher Education Heritage Society.
