BRANCHPORT -- The Finger Lakes Chamber Music Festival are pleased to present a concert of classical music on Friday, June 23. Hunt Country Vineyards, at 4021 Italy Hill Road in Branchport, will host musicians of the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra in a free public concert beginning at 6:30 p.m.
PENN YAN -- GSF Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in need in the areas where Golden State Foods (GSF) associates live and work, recently engaged in the “Focus on Food” initiative to support local food banks in their efforts to alleviate hunger for children and families struggling with food insecurity.

Rita is a 3-year-old “Pocket” Pitty. She is very sweet and affectionate. Rita is learning to walk with a leash, and she catches on fast. For a small pity, she has tons of energy. Rita would like to meet any other dogs in the household.

Boys Lacrosse June 9 NYS Tournament, Class D Semifinals Marcellus 7, Penn Yan 6 After another great season of lacrosse for Penn Yan Academy, the Mustangs’ postseason run came to an end with a loss to Marcellus in the State Semifinals. The game was a close battle that came down to literally the last minute, with Marcellus scoring the winning goal with 1:01 left on the clock.

Among other designations, the month of June is recognized as National Great Outdoors Month. That designation is worth some attention here in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions, especially at a time like now when we need to keep growing and strengthening every source of economic opportunity for local communities.
In May, Yates County followed the lead of others around the state by declaring a “state of emergency” in response to the “anticipated imminent and uncoordinated delivery … of large numbers” of migrants and asylum seekers to the county. The legality of these orders is being tested, but the members of the Finger Lakes Justice Partnership (FLXJP) must speak out against the local version as a failure of leadership that misleads the public and endangers our neighbors.
