Woman with no history of cancer should not risk hysterectomy

Dear Dr. Roach: A friend who is a breast cancer survivor recently had another friend who survived uterine cancer, but learned she had bone cancer after five years of being cancer-free. I am 76, and my friend insists I’m crazy if I don’t have a hysterectomy to avoid getting cancer in that area. I have no history of cancer or concerns with the health of my reproductive body parts. Please share your thoughts on this topic.

Grayson College awarded $349,999 equipment grant

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Grayson College’s Center for Workplace Learning (CWL) a $349,999 Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant. The JET grant will fund the purchase of instructional equipment for the Industrial Maintenance Technician (IMT) and Programmable Logic Controller Technician (PLC) programs. The addition of this new equipment will increase the instructional capacity of the programs and enhance the learning environment in these skills-oriented, hands-on programs.

Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery hosts Vietnam War veterans commemoration

The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery will host a Vietnam War Veterans Commemoration event to thank and honor the nation’s Vietnam Veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. The ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dalla-Fort Worth National Cemetery will include a wreath laying and pinning ceremony for Vietnam Veterans.
