Gloria D. Rucker Waddles, age 77, of Denison, ascended to her eternal home on Tuesday, February 21st at Texoma Medical Center following an extended illness. A public visitation will be Friday, March 3rd from 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 4th at 2:30 P.M. at Hopewell Baptist Church, 601 W. Bond St., Denison, with Rev. C.E. Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Denison. Arrangements have been entrusted to James E. Ever since she got out of prison more than two years ago, Vankey Jones has had a rough go of it. She landed in prison after she got in a fight with a man who she said pushed her elderly mother down at a Burlington Coat Factory. It was a bad fight and the felony conviction stuck with her. It was hard to hang onto jobs once employers found out about her history, hard to find stable housing, just hard. Then one rainy night, with nowhere to go, she tried her luck at the Salvation Army but they were all out of beds.

Man sentenced for stalking

Steven Lee Rawlins, 39, of Sherman, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for stalking and felony continuous violence against family in the 397th state district court recently. A news release from the Grayson County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said the sentences will run concurrent.
