SGLY: Tethered to love

You can tie a knot with numerous things, from rope to ribbons. As children, we learn to tie shoelaces. Boys becoming men are taught how to tie a Windsor knot. Crafters create knot blankets, and custom tailors tie knots to the end of sewing threads. But not all knots are formed for fashion or to fortify. Some are created from tangles, like a knot in the delicate link of a necklace or a muddle of phone and computer wires.

Local church news in brief

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Sherman will be holding a Lenten supper and Bible study every Wednesday evening in Lent, starting March 1. The Lenten suppers will be March 1, March 8, March 15, March 22, and March 29. For more information, please call the church office at 903-892-6610.

Art Contest Winners Announced

Fifteen-year-old Miranda Verde of Trenton took home the top prize in the Open Your Heart Art Contest sponsored by the Fannin County Children’s Center. She won $100 and a blue ribbon for her artwork that will now be featured on the front of the Open Your Heart campaign cards. Fourteen-year-old Ryan Compton of Dodd City won a second place ribbon and $50. Her artwork will be featured on the inside of the cards.
