Get to know the Sherman Art League

The Sherman Art League is preparing for a great new year bringing opportunities for artists and art admirers all across the Texoma area. The Sherman Art League (SAL) is the longest established art organization in Grayson County, dating to 1961. The mission of the Sherman Art League states, “We desire to encourage artists of all ages, to promote excellence and diversity in the arts, and to increase the awareness and appreciation of art in the community. To promote the visual arts through lectures, shows and workshops in an informal collegial atmosphere.”.

In the book Nobody Does it Better: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of James Bond by Edward Gross and Mark A. Altman, there’s an interesting anecdote from a creative figure involved in classic James Bond movies on what kinds of people you need to make those big-budget films. Specifically, this person noted that it was fine to pair an inexperienced leading man with a blockbuster veteran director or a famous leading man with a filmmaker whose never tackled a blockbuster before. But if both the leading man and director are novices, that’s where problems occur.
