Texas teachers deserve fair Social Security benefits

Imagine you’re a recently retired teacher in Texas. You spent your career earning a lower salary than most of your fellow teachers across the nation. You spent more than $700 from your own pocket each year on school supplies, while Texas spent less per student each year than all but eight states. The last time you received a costof- living increase to your benefits was 18 years ago.

Florida judge reconfirms our Constitution

Florida Republicans, including Governor Ron DeSantis, have just won big in the election but also just suffered a major loss in court. I distinctly recall a discussion on the radio with a doctor about 25 or 30 years ago, in which it was carefully explained why the PSA is of little value and is not worth doing. Do you remember that time? I’m wondering if it was the insurance companies that were behind that policy.

Cross-atlantic romance hits snag over driving

Dear Abby: I met my boyfriend online last year. He lives in the U.K.; I’m in the U.S. I love him dearly and we talk about moving in together within the next year. The original plan was for him to emigrate, since I am closer to my family and have an established job. However, I’m a bit worried because he doesn’t drive. It’s not just because of the learning curve it will take to switch sides of the road, but he doesn’t drive in the U.K. either.
