Sherman man gets 30 years for aggravated sexual assault of a child

Servando Duarte, 48, of Sherman, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. The sentence was handed down by Judge Jim Fallon in the 15th District Court pursuant to a plea agreement. Duarte will be required to serve at least one half of his sentence before being considered for parole. The Court also granted a lifetime protective order against Duarte and he will be required to register as a sex offender for the duration of his lifetime.

On October 3, 1863, the White House issued the Thanksgiving Proclamation, declaring the last Thursday of November to be a “day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.” The proclamation also requested “the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore … peace, harmony, and Union.”
