A Port Arthur man has pleaded guilty to federal firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas. Frankie Malik Cunningham, 23, pleaded guilty to possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The Navarro family played an important role in the early, formative years of Texas. Angel Navarro was an important early political leader in San Antonio, service that paved the way for his son. Jose Antonio Navarro, a leader of the Texas Revolution and in the early Republic of Texas, was inspired for a life of service by his father. In turn, he would inspire his own children and citizens across the state.

Students and staff at Denison ISD’s Terrell Elementary School basked in the glow of national acclaim on Monday as school officials, dignitaries, families and community leaders gathered to celebrate Terrell’s 2022 National Blue Ribbon School award – one of the nation’s most prestigious honors from the U.S. Department of Education.

The Sherman FFA has been busy over the past month with students attending events all over the area and taking home top awards. Most recently, the Sherman Beef Cattle team competed in the Tioga FFA Fall Classic at Denison, which raked in two first place awards and one second place.
