Regaining trust in the ethics of the U.S. Supreme Court

Once again, the Supreme Court is finding its ethics under scrutiny. Last week, Justice Clarence Thomas declined to recuse himself in a case involving the plot to overturn Arizona’s 2020 presidential vote, despite his wife’s efforts to pressure state lawmakers to set aside Joe Biden’s victory there. Then the New York Times reported Saturday on allegations that a decision in a 2014 case involving contraception and religious rights leaked to a high-profile abortion foe — a troubling precursor, if true, to the breach that occurred this spring when a draft opinion of its decision to overturn Roe v. Wade became public.

Westwood Village gets a facelift

Recently, representative for a west Sherman shopping center unveiled plans to remodel and restore the buildings located near the corner of West Houston Street and Sunset Boulevard. The nearly 96,000-square-foot shopping center is made up by the main building, a smaller strip center across Sunset and a third detached building.

TI, GlobalWafers effect: City talks water reclamation

To ensure there is enough water for expanding local businesses and residents to coexist in the city, Sherman city leaders are looking at water reclamation. City Manager Robby Hefton recently suggested that reusing the city’s water resources could be the key to ensuring that large users, including Texas Instruments and GlobalWafers, and residents all get their fair share of a limited resource.
