Aunt’s broken promises feed a years-long grudge

Dear Abby: My aunt is a money-hungry, conniving thief. From the time I was a baby, she always bought me gifts. But when her parents (my grandparents) died, she literally stole more than $200,000 from them. She claims my grandfather willed it all to her, which is not true because he detested her. She promised my mom $5,000 when she retired. Well, it has been 10 years since Mom retired, and my aunt claims she doesn’t remember promising her. Then she claimed she invested and lost it. Do I have a right to be angry at her?

New overpass: TxDOT US 75 construction pushes on

US 75, Grayson County: from FM 1417 to SH 91 (Texoma Parkway). Watch for shoulder closures and lane shifts on the northbound and southbound US 75 main lanes between SH 91 and FM 1417 as crews work on building new main lanes, bridges, and retaining walls. Watch for lane closures on the frontage roads between FM 1417 and SH 91. A reduced speed limit of 60 mph on the US 75 mainlanes has been set for this construction project.

Pottsboro man arrested on multiple charges

A call about a roommate who was said to be going “crazy” and threatening a man with a knife led Grayson County deputies to arrest a 35-year-old Pottsboro man Tuesday. A news release from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrived on Kristin Lane to find the roommate in question acting as though he were under the influence of something Deputies detained the man at the scene.

Man gets 51 months for firearm

A Beaumont man has been sentenced for a federal firearms violation in the Eastern District of Texas. Gregory Cherry, Jr., 40, pleaded guilty on June 6, 2022, to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison by U.S.
