Austin College offers lecture on roots of Spanish slang, dialect dictionary

Austin College’s Center for Southwestern and Mexican Studies will present its annual fall lecture on Thursday, October 6, at 11 a.m. in Wright Campus Center, Room 254. The lecture is free, open to the public, and will be presented in English. The talk, featuring Dr. Roxana Fitch, will focus on “25 Years and Counting: Writing and Updating an Online Spanish Slang and Dialect Dictionary.”

Temporary Closure of West Cypress Grove Road at FM 1417 begins Oct. 3

Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that the east side of the West Cypress Grove Road and FM 1417 intersection will close temporarily starting Oct. 3. This closure is part of the original plans for the reconstruction of FM 1417 presented during the public hearing process and is required to complete work on the intersection of West Cypress Grove Road and FM 1417, officials said.
