Grayson County commissioners ended the sixweek long burn ban that the county had been under since July 19. Grayson County uses a standard index of the temperature estimates and precipitation levels to make decisions about burn bans.

There is a currently some cause for concern if you are a canine owner in Michigan. State and federal agencies are investigating an unknown illness that’s sickened dogs in northern Michigan and killed at least 30 canines in one county after they exhibited signs of a parvo-like illness, The Associated Press reported.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to bus migrants to New York City and Washington, D.C., has amplified the desperate need for comprehensive immigration reform. Since April, Abbott has bused more than 7,200 migrants from Texas to President Joe Biden’s backyard. Since Aug. 5, he’s bused more than 1,500 migrants to New York City. Immigration is a federal issue, but it is an acute challenge for border states. And we can’t help but notice that Abbott’s busing program has had an interesting side effect. It has prompted comments from Mayors Eric Adams and Muriel Bowser, of New York City and Washington, D.C., that give voice to the pressures border communities face.
BERLIN (AP) — Two roller coaster trains crashed into each other Thursday at an amusement park in southern Germany, injuring at least 34 people, two of them severely, German media reported. One roller coaster train braked heavily and another train collided with it at the Legoland park in Guenzburg, the German news agency dpa reported.
The city of Denison plans to continue recycling services even after the contract with its current provider expires. City staff recently announced plans to contract with Republic Services when its ongoing contract with Waste Connections ends early next year.
