Since ancient times women have spent countless hours, paid vast amounts of money, and endured procedures bordering on torture, all in the pursuit of beauty. And even in those earliest days, there were men and women who made it their life’s work to aid women in their efforts. The word cosmetology is derived from the Greek word “kosmetikos” which means “skilled in the use of cosmetics”. While our current “beauty shops” concentrate primarily on hair styling, our ancestors were offered a variety of services to treat hair, face, and body.
