What the cross meant to Jesus

Psalm 22 was written over a thousand years before Jesus would die on a cross. It was written by David, a shepherd, a songwriter, a warrior, and the second king of Israel who was a man after God’s own heart. But the amazing thing about this song or poem is how spot on it is even though it was written so long before Christ died. These weren’t generic or general statements that David made as he expressed what almost certainly appears to be what would’ve been Christ’s innermost thoughts about the cross He bore for us.

My truest haven

I have never been a big television watcher. As a child and teen, I do not recall watching programs during the week, and I was gone most weekends playing sports and performing music, camping, creating, or hanging out with friends at church. My time and energy have certainly waned as I have aged, but my desire to remain active in mind, body, and spirit has persisted. Although I watch more television than I once did (and more than I should), I do not enjoy it long enough to justify spending anything more than a monthly streaming subscription for movies. The caveat is I receive no local channels. I did not realize this to be an issue until a few days ago.

Family slain at Georgia gun range ‘rejoicing in heaven’ GRANTVILLE, Ga. – A coroner who discovered three of his family members slain in the robbery of their Georgia gun range says they are now “rejoicing in heaven.” A funeral for all three was held Thursday, as family and friends mourn their deaths and a police hunt is continuing for the killer.

Actor and comedian Gottfried dies at 67 after ‘long illness’ Comedian and actor Gilbert Gottfried died Tuesday after a “long illness,” his family said. Gottfried, 67, who became known for his shrill voice and roles in “Aladdin,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and as the voice of the Aflac duck, died of recurrent ventricular tachycardia, longtime friend and publicist Glenn Schwartz said.
