Captain William David Compton, USPHS, Ret.

DENISON - After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Captain William David Compton, USPHS, Ret. passed away on April 14, 2022. On December 10, 1947, David was born in Anadarko, OK, to William J. and Kathryn J. Compton of Gracemont, OK. He was a 1966 graduate of Gracemont High School. He married Mary Ann Kobza of Anadarko, OK, on May 23, 1970. A few weeks later, he graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. David served in the US Navy from (1970-to 1976) and was stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War as a cryptologic technician. David received a Master’s of Public Health from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. He then began a 26-year career (1977-2003) as a commissioned officer in the US Public Health Service, serving for the Indian Health Service in Wewoka, OK; Ada, OK; Phoenix, AZ; and Aberdeen, SD. While in Aberdeen, David was an active member of the Exchange Club, serving as District President. His goal was to attend a meeting in each of the clubs, which he did accomplish.

Alice Glenda “Granny” Taylor

Alice Glenda Taylor was born March 26, 1938, at Murphy’s corner across from Luffy Chapel Church in Fillmore, Oklahoma. The daughter of Napoleon B. Murphy and Emma Carter Murphy. She married Leon Taylor on May 11, 1958, in Pampa, Texas. They owned and operated Dairy Queen and What-O-Burger in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She was retired from Texas Instruments in Sherman, Texas.

Leatrice Sager

DENISON - Leatrice Sager, 89, died at her home in Denison on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Leatrice was born the daughter of James Monroe and Barnie (Greene) Bond on December 2, 1932 in Sadler, Texas.

Tesla stockholders ask judge to silence Musk

DETROIT – A group of Tesla shareholders suing CEO Elon Musk over some 2018 tweets about taking the company private is asking a federal judge to order Musk to stop commenting on the case. Lawyers for stockholders of the Austin, Texas-based company also say in court documents that the judge in the case has ruled that Musk’s tweets about having “funding secured” to take Tesla private were false, and that his comments also violate a 2018 court settlement with U.S.
